Meetcute

Kay and Michelle meet… on Zoom! The class, "Facing You, Facing Me," is a small seminar for folks from different backgrounds to come together and learn about each other's experiences. During class, Kay shouts out Michelle, sharing that she really related to Michelle's perspective on family and friendship. Michelle DMs Kay on Zoom, asking to talk more about it. We decide to meet up for a picnic before the next class and talk for so long that we're late to class!

Will you be in my Bubble?

After a month of covid-safe outdoor meetups, we decide to merge our covid bubbles. Kay gets to know Michelle's roomie and best friend Grace, and Michelle goes to Kay's house for Halloween. Later on we choose this to be our anniversary.

Falling (and springing)

Lots of cafe dates and hanging out in Berkeley. Kay pops into the Zoom computer science class that Michelle TAs. Michelle invites Kay to an exclusive and awesome trip--Study Buddies-- where eight soon-to-be friends go out of town together for a week to study before finals. Kay, as a trip driver, tries to impress Michelle and friends with her humor in showing the car's trunk capacity. Michelle graduates in Winter 2020. Kay finishes her last semester in between Tahoe ski trips, and graduates in the Spring.

In New Yoooooork

Adulting, bagels, coffeeeee, delays, e-bikes, furniture stooping, greenpoint, hosting, i'm freezing, july heat, kitties (nori & phantom <3), long lines, musicals (& plays), new friends, old friends, pop-ups and thrift stores, questioning the state of society, rats, startups, teaching, unexpected finds, vital (climbing gym), wnba watch parties, 喜喜, yesterday's takeout, zeal for life.

The Proposal

Kay cooks up a plan for an intimate at-home proposal and executes it, with the help of @Kat Yang, to Michelle's surprise. Michelle says yes!! We celebrate with an engagement dinner in Greenpoint with some of our closest friends and family, including some from out of town! We are so incredibly fortunate and thankful to have each other, to have you all, and to have this opportunity to celebrate our love and commitment all together. ♥️
